We are all music ministers. However, special ministers, including our choirs, accompanists, instrumentalists and choir director, help us to raise a joyful song unto the Lord. Choir rehearsals are on Thursday evenings. New members are always welcome!
Our dedicated SATB choir rehearses each week and leads us in worship each Sunday from early fall through Trinity Sunday. Do you like to sing? Come along. We would love to have you join us.
A revitalized children’s choir that sings for special liturgical occasions is sweeping the parish! Stay tuned for periodic information on rehearsal and performance dates.
This vibrant instrument, just less than 30 years old has an interesting history that is very much in keeping with the spirit of Easter. It has encountered death and new life! This 20 rank tracker was originally designed and built by Mann and Trupiano of Brooklyn, New York in the early 1980’s for St. Gregory the Great church in Bristol, CT. After some significant expansion and architectural changes to the church it was decided that the organ was no longer sufficient and would be replaced. Through the grace of the Holy Spirit and the generosity of St. Gregory’s, the organ was donated to St. John’s in mid 2007. Southfield Organ builders have done an extraordinary job rebuilding and relocating the instrument. Many thanks to David Melrose and his crew, Susan Wildman our Director of Music and the members of St. John’s for their faithful midwifery.
